For the first time in a single volume there are included the 65 Arctiidae species occurring the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. The main part of the work consists of 65 individual sheets for each species which describe the imagos and the differentiation from similar species. Subspecies and individual forms are mentioned, giving data on biology, habitat, taxonomy, conservation measures and a map showing its geographical distribution.
There are included over 460 color illustrations showing the adults of all species, as well as the larvae of some of them and picture of their habitat. For a better identification, a detailed drawing of the genital structures of males of each species is provided. It also includes a dichotomical key to the genus Eilema through external morphology, as well as identification plates and plenty of useful tips for raising Arctiidae.
